Congratulations to Joe Chen and his partner Yin on their recent engagement!  Joe popped the question on the Romantic Sunset Flight, and despite a few hiccups along the way including Melbourne’s stormy weather and a fake ring, they are now set for happily ever after.  Here’s Joe’s story…

After postponing the flight four times due to a run of bad weather, everything seemed set to go for Tuesday night. The restaurant was booked and everyone was informed of the plan. I told Yin (my fiancée to be), that I had to meet a friend. I had planned a diversion for her to have dinner with her brother. Instead her brother passed her a message reading “Are you ready for a night of adventure? Then put on this blindfold”. Her brother then drove her to the airport and off we went. We flew to the Dandenong Mountains and the Yarra Valley. The scenery was just spectacular. We veered right so we could see the sun setting behind her. That was when I gave the cue to the co-pilot asking “So, how high up are we?”. He explained about our altitude while getting out the video camera. At the same time I gave her a little present. It was a small windup melody box which played the wedding march tune.

That was when I proposed. I asked her to close her eyes as I slipped a ring on to her left hand. When she opened her eyes she was shocked to find a flower shaped ring with a huge purple gem. The look on her face was priceless!! She had previously had a nightmare that I proposed with this ugly ring so I thought I’d humour her. Of course I brought out the real ring and I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. Luckily for me she said yes!!

It was just a magical night and I’d just like to thank Direct Air and eXcapades for making it a night to remember.”

Amanda had a need for speed...

"On Sunday I took part in a V8 Race Experience and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. While this experience is set up so that you can drive yourself, I can’t drive a manual. The drivers great about it, and were happy to drive me instead! It was an awesome experience to be driven around Calder Park at great speeds, over taking other V8 Race cars on the track. The day started of with a pre driving course which lasted about 20 minutes telling us how to get the best out of the cars.  Then we were lead down to the pits where we were suited up in genuine racing suits and a helmet. Each driver had their photos taken with a V8 Race car, before we got to hop in our chosen V8 Holden or Ford car for the ride of our lives! 5 laps go so quickly… I recommend this experience for anyone - not just for guys to enjoy - the girls will get a kick out of it too!"

Rino Cuciniello was given a Quad Bike tour voucher by his wife and daughters for his birthday...

“On Sunday I went on the Quad Bike Tour exploring the sand dunes at Port Stephens. It was awesome and we also have some great video footage from our helmet cam. It was very well organised and we covered heaps of sand dunes and even stopped at the ship wreck and Tin city. There was even a girl on the trip and she did very well, so anybody could do this!

Thanks eXcapades, I will be back to do the advanced ride soon after I drive the V8 supercar.......”
